Other Courses
We provide three other types of courses:
In-house Courses
Since its foundation the RPC has been available to many companies where employment numbers merit the holding of a pre-retirement course especially for the company's own specific group. In providing pre-retirement courses which are specially designed to suit the needs of soon-to-retire individuals the course content, while remaining largely the same, can also be varied to suit each specific circumstance. Additional arrangements can also be made so that the company and its employees gain maximum benefit from the course.
Sometimes this may mean that we deliver these courses at the company's own premises or at some hotel or premises convenient to the workplace. At other times companies may choose to use the facilities at our own office in Lower Pembroke Street, Dublin.
The content of the courses may include the company's own pension officers making a contribution to the course content.
As a result of this process of tailor-making courses for companies these courses have become very popular in recent years. Sad and all as redundancies can be for employees, the trauma can be somewhat alleviated and the company's reputation enhanced by showing due care and attention to their retiring employees.
Where redundancies are occurring and on occasion depending on age and circumstances, the course being provided is geared towards early retirement issues or indeed mid-career issues.
*As each course is tailor-made to suit an individual company's requirements, costs will vary. The exact course cost will be given upon application and is irrespective of numbers attending.
Mid-Career Course
This course is intended to be provided by specific employers to help their employees to either re-orient their career or alternatively to assist in assessing where their current career is now at. This "Life Changes" course has been designed specifically for 30-50 year olds and for those facing redundancies.
The course gives guidance in planning for, and dealing with the social and operational changes in the workplace.
Also addressed are the financial issues that the individual will face.
Each one-day course is tailor-made to suit the employment background and a menu of topics is discussed with the company providing the course for its employees.
The course is led by a RPC professional with each specialist subject being delivered by an approved expert.

The Executive Retirement Course
The issues facing executives at retirement are increasingly complicated and varied. Primarily this is because work has assumed a major role in the leader's life in a way never experienced in the past. Technology and the interdependence of the worlds economies has created a work environment that demands virtually a 24/7 focus on business matters. This must inevitably be at the expense of family life and personal interests.
Suddenly it all comes to an end! The loss of status and power and the need to refocus one's energies, and relationships in particular, will create a period of tension and stress.
Recognising these challenges the Retirement Planning Council of Ireland(RPC) has created and presented over the last few years a tailored method of addressing the relevant issues in a personal way. Through the means of a one- day seminar confined to the executive (and spouse)in which the topics presented are chosen in advance by the participant(s), a team of carefully selected ,and experienced, professional advisors will explore the new life after full-time work and address the queries and concerns which arise.
The topics usually selected are:
- Relationships-personal and social-how they will alter and how to deal with them..
- Finance-personal taxation, investments, social welfare entitlements.
- Health-improving and maintaining its mental and physical aspects.
- Time - the absence of structure and the many options one can now enjoy.
- Any other required subjects can be included e.g.accommodation, wills, volunteering etc.
Format of the day
The subjects, timing and location will be agreed in advance between the course facilitator and the executive to suit individual needs. As each day is unique the fee will reflect the composition of the day. Detailed documentation will be supplied. In addition the RPC will provide a life long resource support to the attendees.
And,of course, complete confidentiality is guaranteed.
