We are a not-for-profit organisation and a registered charity that supports individuals and organisations throughout Ireland. Here are examples of our free services.

Free course places

We offer free course places if you cannot afford the fee.

If you would like to apply for a free course, or to apply on someone else’s behalf, please contact us. Any information you give us is absolutely private and we will not share it with anyone else.

Free talks to community groups

We give talks to groups throughout the country on topics from ‘Healthy living’ to ‘Top tips for retirement’. For example, this year we are working with the Men’s Sheds organisation to deliver ‘Healthy living’ talks to their members in Cork.

If you are part of a community group who would like a speaker to address your members please contact us.

Networking sessions

After you attend a ‘Planning-for-retirement course’, we will invite you to meet regularly with others who have done the course. This gives you the opportunity to discuss topics of mutual interest with people at the same stage as you are. You can also get support from our staff and they will help you with any retirement-related questions.

Message in a bottle

‘Message in a bottle’ is a simple idea that encourages people to keep their basic personal and medical details in a particular place, where emergency teams can easily find them.

We have linked with Lions Clubs International to provide free ‘Message-in-a-bottle’ packs to everyone who attends our courses.

Make your medical information easily available in an emergency

When you use this scheme, your medical history can be quickly accessed by:

  • ambulance
  • fire brigade
  • the Garda
  • medical profession
  • pharmacists.

Everything you need for the scheme is in the pack

The pack contains everything you need to put the scheme in place:

  • a personal information form
  • a bottle (plastic container)
  • self-adhesive green crosses.

It’s easy to use the pack

To use the pack, you just:

  • complete the personal information form
  • put the form in the bottle
  • close the lid
  • place the bottle into your refrigerator.

Attach one self-adhesive Green Cross to the outside of your refrigerator door and another to the inside of your front door

This will make it quick and easy for emergency services to find it.

All green crosses should be clearly visible to the emergency services entering your home

Learn your eircode

Know your eircode and leave it beside your phone. This is very important because a few minutes delay in emergency services finding your home could make the difference between life and death.

If you do this, it will give the emergency services a fighting chance to help you.  You should also make sure that your house number or name can be clearly seen from the road.

Other initiatives

We are always open to new ideas and ways in which we can deliver on our mission.
